Popular Nigerian Islamic singer, Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso has passed on. Known for her captivating voice and deeply resonant religious music, she touched many lives within the Muslim community and beyond.
The news of her death was announced by prominent Ilorin, Kwara based cleric Alfa Aribidesi At-Tawdeeh on his official Facebook page on Tuesday morning. The late singer was married to Alhaji Shakiri Oyefeso.
Details surrounding her sudden demise have not yet been fully disclosed, but her loss is profoundly felt among fans and the wider Islamic music scene, with many sharing their condolences.
She was the daughter of famous anchor of 'Eji sari', a Ramadan programme on NTA, late Alhaji Rasak Adebowale Gawat. Some of her songs are; Iyawo Obun, Oba Nla, Iya Oko and many more.
She has since been buried according to Islamic injunctions. She was buried on Tuesday, September 25, 2024 in Ijebu Aiyepe, Ogun state with many of her colleagues, family members, fans and sympathizers from far and near in attendance. She left behind her husband and three children.
