House of Assembly hopeful, Ogbomoso North Constituency, Hon Olaogun Babatunde Amos(OBA) has charged the leadership and all the stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of the Constituency to choose competence, readiness and capacity over consensus premised on mere propaganda that may be capable of jeopardizing the overall interest of the constituents.
This is contained in a press release made available to The Message International on Sunday, April 12, 2026. The statement reads in parts,
"My dear constituents,
As the leadership of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), drifts towards settling for a consensus candidate to flag the banner of our party in Ogbomoso North, I consider it timely to reach out to you directly.
"I hold strongly to the principle that the party's decision is supreme, and as a loyal party man, I will always submit to the will of the party.
However, at this critical moment, we must remind ourselves why we participate in politics in the first place: to secure competence, capacity, and quality representation for our people.
Consensus must not become an excuse to sacrifice merit on the altar of convenience or propaganda. Our constituency deserves more than slogans.
We need a leader with requisite pedigree — a scientist who understands evidence-based decision making, an administrator with proven experience in managing people and resources, and an entrepreneur who has created value, jobs, and opportunities.
"I present myself as that man — one who has garnered experience across these fields and is ready to deploy it for the progress of Ogbomoso North. From quality bills, to attracting projects, to accessible and responsive representation, I am prepared to serve with substance, not just noise.
My dear constituents, you will please recall that even while we are yet to attain elective position, the welfare of our people has always been on the front burner for me. We have been attending to the health of our people through quality medical outreaches, we have supported parents by giving out scholarships to deserving students, we have procured JAMB as well as GCE forms in their numbers, among other things. Rest assured that it will only get better, particularly when I eventually get the mandate of our great party, the APC.
"To my party leaders, delegates, and stakeholders: as you deliberate on consensus, I appeal that you put Ogbomoso North first. Let us choose a candidate who can win and, more importantly, can perform. Let us choose capacity over clout, and track record over empty promises.
"To my constituents: your voice matters. In the coming days, engage our leaders. Let them know that Ogbomoso North cannot afford another term of under-representation. Demand competence.
"Together, we can build an Ogbomoso North that works for all — through purposeful legislation, strategic empowerment, and honest leadership.
I am ready to serve."
