One Ayoola Ayanwale has killed his wife, Ganiyat Ayanwale, in the presence of their children and later killed himself.
The above picture of the couple was taken on the first Sunday of this year on January 4.
However event took a fatal twist on Thursday, January 8, 2026, as the mother-of-three was pronounced dead at 8.30pm at Gifted Hands Hospital where she was rushed to, after her husband stabbed her with knife in the presence of their children whom he locked up in a room at their residence at River Valley Estate, in Ogun State.
The killer husband described as a serial wife beater was said to have initially tried to force the wife to drink a poisonous substance to no avail.
He then turned to stabbing her with knife multiple times with her screams and distress calls alerting neighbours to the scene.
On the way to the hospital where she was rushed to by responders Mrs Ayanwale reportedly said, “I just entered the house. He attacked me,” before she died.
It was further gathered that 12 hours later, Mr. Ayanwale was found in an open field in Sotubo, a suburb of Ogun State.
Report added that he was found gasping for breath and later pronounced dead in what is believed to be suicide.
Items recovered at the scene included a bottle containing a suspected liquid substance, two mobile phones, a voter’s card and an ATM card.
