The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has announced that March 1, 2025, will mark the first day of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The Head of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs made the declaration on Friday at his palace in Sokoto, Sokoto State.
Abubakar confirmed that the crescent moon was sighted on Friday, the 29th day of Shaban.
He mentioned that the reports of moon sightings from different regions of the country were verified and approved by the council, officially signaling the start of Ramadan 1446.
The Sultan called on all Muslims to devote the holy month to prayer, seeking Allah’s blessings and guidance for the country and its leaders.
