Veteran female artiste, Ms Onyeka Onwenu just kicked the bucket.
She allegedly passed away at Reddington Hospital in Lagos after collapsing at Mrs. Stella Okoli’s 80th birthday party.
An eyewitness who was at the party and confirmed the sad news said, “It is very sad. Onyeka Onwenu just performed at Mrs. Stella Okoli’s birthday today, and after her performance, she collapsed. She was taken to Reddington Hospital, but unfortunately, she didn’t make it.”
Ms. Onwenu, a US-based broadcaster, rose to prominence in the 1980s when she joined the NTA.
She later became one of the most prominent female musicians with back-to-back award-winning albums.
At the peak of her career, she also ventured into acting, where she left her mark.
She was once a Local Government Chairman in Imo State.
