GOV OYETOLA DOUSES TENSION IN INISHA, OSUN CHIEF IMAM CRISIS THAT CAUSED FORMER LAGOS COMMISSIONER, ENOCK AJIBOSO'S DEATH

THE OSUN GOVERNMENT HAS WADED INTO THE CRISIS ROCKING INISHA TOWN IN ODO-OTIN AREA OF THE STATE OVER WHO IS ENTITLED TO ASSUME THE VACANT CHIEF IMAM OFFICE.

Recall that Inisha has been embroiled in a crisis occasioned by fight between Muslim clerics and their supporters over who to be installed the Chief Imam of the town Central Mosque.
The face-off was partly the causative agent in the death of former Commissioner for Agriculture and Cooperatives in Lagos State, and ex-Agege Local Government Chairman, late Chief Enoch Kolapomoye Olorunfunwa Ajiboso.

Late Ajiboso until his demise was the Eesa of Inisa land, second only to the traditional ruler of the town. He slumped to death in the middle of a meeting to broker peace between the warring factions.
In a statement Gov. Gboyega Oyetola’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr Adeyanju Binuyo released on Tuesday, the state government announced the closure of Inisha Central Mosque in anticipation that the warring clerics and their supporters would use the occasion of tomorrow’s Eid-Fitri congregation prayer to battle it out in an envisaged free-for-all fight.
“Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, as part of efforts to ensure the security of lives and properties in that axis of the State, directed that the Central Mosque be shut indefinitely to forestall further religious or communal crisis. Already the Mosque has recorded the death of two Imams in quick succession.

“SECURITY OPERATIVES HAVE BEEN DEPLOYED TO THE TOWN TO ENFORCE THE CLOSURE AND BAN ON EID PRAYERS. THIS DIRECTIVE WILL BE IN PLACE UNTIL THE RECONCILIATORY PROCESS TOWARDS AMICABLE RESOLUTION IS CONCLUDED.
“MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC ARE ADVISED TO BE GUIDED BY THIS DIRECTIVE,” BINUYO WROTE
