ONDO GUBER TUSSLE: AKEREDOLU'S CHANCES OF WINNING ENHANCED AS TINUBU BACKS HIM UP

Ahead  the October 10, 2020 governorship election in Ondo State, former Lagos State Governor and National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has landed in the state to boost the support for the incumbent governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, who is seeking reelection for a second term.

Tinubu’s visit to Ondo State, this year again, is said to be a sign that all is now well within the state’s chapter of APC.

Earlier in July 2019, during his first visit to reconcile the aggrieved party chieftains, Tinubu had appealed to those who fell out with Akeredolu in the 2016 governorship primary, to support him for a second term bid this year.

The national leader, who arrived at Akure Airport at past 1p.m. and was received by Governor Akeredolu, reportedly said his visit was a sign APC would win the October election resoundingly, adding that the differences and age-long grievances among the leaders, especially against Akeredolu, had been amicably resolved.

Meanwhile, the national leader of the party- Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu whose anointed candidate was defeated by Akerodolu during the keenly contested primaries  in the election that ushered in the latter in 2016, has earlier been rumoured to be against the second term ambition of the incumbent governor as he was  also said to be rooting for another candidate that would lock horn with Aketi, as Akeredolu is fondly addressed,  during the primary election held weeks back.

Now, it seemed the game has changed as Asiwaju and his supporters have also thrown their weights behind Akeredolu, therefore raising  his confidence in  retaining the number one seat of the Sunshine state.
