The embattled Vice Chancellor of the university of Lagos (UNILAG), Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe on Thursday returned to office in a grand style.
Recalled that Prof. Ogundipe had told the public that he remained the VC of the institution as against the decision of the governing council of the school.
Earlier, the governing council announced a new acting Vice-Chancellor.
It disclosed the appointment of Professor Theophilus Omololu Soyombo of the Faculty of Social Sciences as the acting the Vice Chancellor of the University.
This is coming after the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olawatoyin Ogundipe, was sacked by the governing council of the institution during a meeting which was presided over by its Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Dr. Wale Babalakin on Wednesday.
Following the development, Ogundipe had in a terse statement obtained by Vantage News, declared that the council’s decision “is untrue and a figment of its imagination.”
He also insisted that he remains the Vice Chancellor of the University.
