The Nigerian music legend, Ebenezer Obey was rumoured to have died in a London hospital after a brief illness.
However, Dele Momodu has confirmed that Obey is still alive and well.
Lanre Obey-Fabiyi, Obey’s son confirmed to local media that the report was false, adding that Nigerians should disregard the news.
Born in 1942, Obey is a Nigerian jùjú musician. He’s famously known by his nickname “Chief Commander”. He is also termed as one of Nigeria’s oldest living and active Juju musicians.
Obey’s songs reflect different happenings in the society, touching on almost every aspect of human life and cutting across different ethnic inclinations.
He was inducted into the Evergreen Music Hall of Fame by the Evergreen musical company on December 15, 2019.
