The music legend and reggae king, Majekodunmi Fasheke, popularly known and called Majek Fashek, is dead.
His manager, Omenka Uzoma, confirmed his death via the legend’s official Instagram handle.
The Message International learnt that Majek Fahsek died in a hospital in New York, United State of America, on Monday, June 1, 2020. He has been battling strange illness for long not unconnected with drug addiction which led to his unavoidable rehabilitation for a while before his relocation abroad a couple of years back for proper medical attentoin. But all efforts to bring the embattled Raggae star back on his feet hit the brick Wall as he finally succumbed into the cold hands of death on Monday, June 1, 2020.
“Today been having pressure calls, well it is true that the African No 1 Legendary ICON has gone to be with the LORD his Maker,” Uzoma wrote on the late singer’s official Instagram handle.
“Let celebrate him, his achievements, and his family, whatever decisions made by his immediate family will be notified.”
Until his death, Fashek was one of Nigeria’s surviving Reggae music legend, Majek attracted international attention in 1987, with his self-penned tune, ‘Send down the Rain.’
The music icon was born in Benin, Edo state, but was romoured to have hailed from Ilesa, Osun state. Adieu, 'The Rain Maker'.'
