How more than 50 people were massacred by gun men in Nigeria

With the recent killing and massacred of more 50 people in Kerawa, Zareyawa Minda in Kaduna and killing of more than six people in Plateau, coupled with the murdered of another 14 people in Delta and 2 in Edo respectively on 14^th in the month of February and  2^nd of March 2020, it was clear indication that Nigerian Government under the leadership of Mummad Buhari of APC has no capacity and power to stop the massacre that is ravaging the country since 2015 and entire citizens could not sleep with their both eyes closed for fear of been attacked by the dreaded bandit.  Everybody is living with fear and both lives and properties were not safe.

In the same manner, notable gospel musician, Lanre Ateriba popularly known as Atorise was brutally attacked by herdsmen on 7^th March 2020, on his way from  musical engagement, the very talented singer escaped death  by whisker and his currently recuperating in hospital     

  According to the investigation carried out by our reporters, at least 50 people were killed in multiple attacks by armed bandits on villages in an area of northern Nigeria rife with cattle theft and kidnappings, local officials on the 2^nd of March, 2020.

Sources said about 100 armed assailants stormed into the villages of Kerawa, Zareyawa and Minda in Kaduna state at dawn gunning down worshippers as they left a mosque for morning prayers before killing residents and burning and looting homes.  The gun men believed to be  dreaded Fulani herdsmen could not be apprehended by the security operatives as we write.

Herdsmen, regarded as one of the deadliest groups in the world, also accounted for 22 deaths in the month with their activities majorly occurring in the Southern part of the country.

Meanwhile, Director of CML, Mr Seun Akinfolarin,  has urged the Nigerian Government to further strengthen security agencies in the country to combat criminal activities resulting in avoidable loss of lives.

He added that the call for the sack of security chiefs over their inability to secure the country was not out of place, urging government to also tackle poverty as it was the harbinger of insurgency.

 In the same vein, The militant Islamist group has destabilised the North-East of Nigeria since 2009 the group killed tens of thousands of people and displaced millions more. About 2.5 people fled their homes and towns, and the direct consequence of the conflict was that the North-East was plunged into a severe humanitarian crisis - as of 2018, one of the worst in the world which has left about 7.7 milions people in need of humanitarian aid.

In his first term, Muhammadu Buhari claimed that his government would bring an end to the national suffering inflicted by Boko Haram. The government made significant military gains, reducing the number of Boko Haram attributed deaths from more than 5000 to less than 1,000 in the past couple of years.

In 2018 alone, more than 2000 people were killed in an attacked launched by the herdsmen,   The conflict now claims an estimated six times more than the Boko Haram crisis. The dispute is being politicised and is stirring ethnic and religious tensions, which is very dangerous in a deeply divided country like Nigeria. The president must find inclusive and creative ways of addressing and deescalating this complex conflict

 Similarly, such attacked was launched  on the residence of Era Road, Ijanikin,  Lagos State, South-West, Nigeria, a family of seven was attacked and their building located at 7b, Era Road, Ijanikin was burnt by the unknown gun men who came to  waste the life of one certain young man, Hakeem Adegoke. Luckily for him he was able to escape by whisker but his two siblings were not too lucky, the gun men succeeded in taking them away and their whereabouts still unknown. Up till moment nobody could trace the whereabouts of Hakeem, the young dude has ran for his dear life.
