As popular actress cum film maker, Funke Akindele-Bello ( Jenifa) and her hubby, Abdul Rasheed Hello pleaded guilty to the one count charge leveled against them for organizing a birthday party at their Amen Estate, Lagos home a couple of days back where the attedees were over 20 which ran contrary to the health law of Lagos state specifically promulgated with a view to curtailing the spread of the globally dreaded disease, Coronavirus(COVID-19) and the couple consequently charged to court by the state and the thespian and her music director husband, JJC Skill were fined N100,000 each with 14 day community service, the teeming fans of the widely celebrated actress have lampooned the Ikorodu, Lagos born Theatre-Art practitioner for arrongantly disrespecting the law of the state that has earned her enormous fame she's enjoying today. They added that Funke and her hubby, Abdulrasheed don't deserve any pity.
Speaking with Opera News after the judgment yesterday, April 6, 2020, one of the addicted fans of the hugely talented film maker who pleaded anonymity said, "I can't pity Funke Akindele and her husband for the mess they are in presently. They deliberately put themselves in the trap, maybe out of arrogance, forgetting no one is above the law. The fine is even too small. Why can't they postpone the party? After all, such activities have been declared illegal for now. Are they above the law? In fact, Funke Akindele has disappointed us. But now, I think she might have learned her lesson now, though in a hard way."
Another fan who simply identified herself as Mercy said, "I was disappointed when I first heard the news that Funks Akindele was arrested for breaking the law of social distancing. It shouldn't have been Funke of all people because she herself is a lawyer and she knows quite alright that law is no respecter of anybody no matter how big or famous you are. What she did was a kind of flagrant disregard of the law, and there's nothing wrong with the punishment melted out to both the husband and wife. They are a disgrace to Lagos state, especially Funke who is also an Ambassador to the state."
