Some concerned parents who Opera News sought their views on the murder of the pregnant final year student poured out their minds, but differed in opinions as some blamed the deceased and her parents for the sad occurrence while some were of the opinion that her killers are agents of the devil who should be brought to book for the heinous crime.
A retired civil servant from Alausa, Ikeja Lagos, Mrs Beatrice Oyenigba said, "What happened was an abomination. The lady was pregnant, that means he wasn't the only one killed by those criminals. They have a lot of questions to answer here on earth and thereafter. However, truth must be told. I don't think the parents were vigilant enough about their daughter. If they were, they should have monitored her movement to know the kind of friend she said she wanted to visit that fateful day. Also, the girl can as well be blamed for visiting someone she met on Facebook again just few months ago after they had parted ways for a long time and knowing fully that she was even pregnant. What else was she looking for? Parents need to monitor their female children to the level of the kind of friends they move with. We should not just say because they're in higher institutions, they're above who will can guide or monitor. Not to even talk of all the strange happenings we're hearing here and there, especially concerning money rituals."
Another parent, Mr Benjamin Esuola, artisan in Ifako-Ijaye area of Lagos also reacted angrily, "I felt bad and sad when I heard it on the news. They just wasted the innocent girl and her unborn baby. A final year student for that matter. I can't really blame the girl for falling victim. She's one of their many targets. She just happened to be unlucky. Let's blame the thief, not the owner. I was even Shocked to hear that a pastor again was involved in the shady deal. God will judge even if we fail here on earth on our judgement."
Another parent, Alhaji Wasiu Olowolayemo said, "It's a sad occurrence. Those arrested must be brought to book. All Nigerians are watching. The case must not be dragged for too long before justice is done. Those guys must both be charged for murder outrightly. I can't really blame the parents nor the girl. It's those evil doers that should be condemned in one voice. For the guy and his mother to have paid N210, 000 for money ritual, that means they are desperate. And even the so called pastor. All we need is prayer for our children not to fall into a wrong hand."
In his submission, Mr Ugochukwu Emmanuel from Ogba, Lagos blamed late Favour Daley and her parents. "Although, what happened was condemnable, still little to the girl and her parents. I don't think there's anything wrong in making it mandatory for her to go back to school straight so far she was done with them. Then, so far the girl knew she was already pregnant, she was not supposed to be visiting one useless old boy friend again. What did she really want from him? It's sad! All I know is that those involved can't get out of it by the special grace of God."
