The tension that has enveloped Lagos political atmosphere as a result of the much anticipated governorship primary election by the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) has disappeared as the election has held across all the 20 local governments in the state without any violence as expected by some political watchers on account of the inciting utterance and campaign of calumny recently demonstrated by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and targetted at his co-contestant for the governordhip ticket, Babajide Sanwo-olu during the world press conference he organised two days to the election.
However, members of the party turned out in their thousands to exercise the civic rights by participating in the direct primary organised by the party which saw Sanwo-olu as the winner. Our political correspondent, Wale Oshin described the exercise as free, fair and credible. Not only that, the decision to replace Governor Ambode with Sanwo-olu was almost unanimous as key party members who took part in the election vehemently rejected the coming back of Ambode as governor of the state; hence the block votes for his opponent.
